Mission accomplished. Here is the circuit I ran:

A1. Squat 12 reps @ 135 (3 sets)
A2. Deadlift 5 reps @ 225 (5 sets)

B1. Kneeling cable crunch 16 reps @ 30, 40, 50
B2. Seated crunch machine 8 reps @ 170, 180, 190
B3. Ball crunches 30 reps
These were all for 3 sets.

And some kettlebell work to finish the day

C1. Kettlebell swings 20 reps @ 30
C2. Kettlebell turkish getups 3 reps each side @ 20
for 2 sets.

Time to eat, clean the crib and pack. I’ll miss you blog friends. See you soon with lots of pictures.

Monday Modivation

Rich Franklin’s workout. 45 minutes to an hour of strength training WITH NO REST PERIODS. Man is a monster.

Oh yeah, and then he has to train technique. WOW.

Just a quick note

If you send me stupid, unscientific, politically charged email, I will reply and point out every reason you are wrong.

Also, I will CC everyone you spammed so they all know why you are wrong.

Example:

Subject: Energy Saving Light bulbs

If you don’t have time to watch the video, let me tell you the two main points: These new light bulbs have mercury and are dangerous if broken AND what about long term effects to our environment - WE ALREADY HAVE A HUGE RISE IN AUTISM - ——— — — AND they are made only in China. Why should we be required to use these only by 2014 ???

Your congress at work, YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE!!!! This is one Democratic controlled Congress’ solution to energy savings. Gotta love these bozos! This is some of the” change ” they want? http://youtube.com/watch?v=e-LOtKIIKcg

My reply:

Actually they aren’t bozos. The “energy saving bulbs” they are referring to are actually CFLs (Compact fluorescent lamps) and all florescent bulbs contain trace amounts of mercury, they always have, this is not new. Secondly, the amount of mercury in CFLs is less than 5 milligrams which is smaller than the period at the end of this sentence. Any small battery (double A, triple A, etc, etc) contains acid that is argubly more harmful. If you are worried about the amount of mercury in CFLs, you may as well stop using batteries and quit eating fish altogether. Thirdly, they can save you from $440 to $1500 dollars every 5 years. I don’t know about you, but I like extra money. Lastly, EVERYTHING is made in China. This is a moot point. The happy meal toy that your kid puts in his mouth and chews on: made in China. Plus standard bulbs are made in Thailand, Mexico AND China.

Now, making them required is goofy but the legislation actually calls for reduction in energy for 100 watt - 40 watt bulbs by 25% - 30% but does not name a specific technology required to accomplish this. You could just as easily use LEDs.

Here is some more info on CFLs if you are interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_fluorescent_lamp

And yes, this was CC’d to about 30 people I don’t know along with the original sender. People usually get the message and stop sending me this kind of crap pretty quickly.

Heading to Hand and Hand (Va.
Deep breaths. I thought about emailing this asshat, but I’m not sure what that would accomplish. Am I going to enlighten him? Most definitely not. Does that mean I shouldn’t try? I don’t know yet.

I feel like I could take this article line by line, and write a paragraph for each line detailing how this man is so very wrong.

But I won’t waste that much time on it. Instead of taking this personally (as a modified, MMA practitioner), I am going to provide a single example of what this man is afraid of. One man who exemplifies everything this man assumes is wrong with culture. Yes Mr. Carpenter, this man is your worst nightmare.

This is Jeff Monson.

I’ve posted about him before (here and here). He is tattoo’d up and he is a “sub-human” MMA fighter. He’s big, aggressive, and represents this lack of culture or return-to-caveman-days-apocalypse you are so frightened of.

But here’s a revelation. This man is not only stronger, faster, and physically better than you in every way but he’s also… wait for it… smarter than you.

That’s right, The Snowman has a Master’s in Psychology and spent time crisis counselling before going pro.

And he’s not alone. Rich Franklin - Masters in Education. He used to teach high school, let’s hope he’s not sub-human.

Randy Couture, Dan Henderson, Matt Lindland - All former olympians.

Crocop is a senator in Croatia.

Etc, etc. I could literally do this all day. But what I’m getting at is this: If you took the time to learn anything about the complexity of the art of tattoo or the sport of MMA or any of either disciplines participants, you would not hold the opinion you do.

You can disagree with tattoo or MMA. That is fine, but “sub-human” is a line one should never cross.

Also the article is riddled with logical fallacy: Equating people with tattoos to pimp, prostitutes and gang members. Seriously?

And finally, the main argument of the article is that the popularity of tattoos shows how our mordern culture is devolving. LOL.

Best technology EVER
Scientific breakthroughs DAILY
Racism on the decline
Sexism on the decline
Crime rate below where it was in the 50’s (AKA our streets are safer than Beaver Cleavers)

I really fail to see where society is losing it’s way.

You know what, I might email him after all…

The Best Mexican Restaurants in (or around) Atlanta

In response to Sarahs response about good Mexican food in A-town. Here are my favorites.

5. Sala - Virginia Highlands. Cool modern atmosphere, ridiculously cheap beer (2 dollar Dos Equis draft).

4. La Fonda - I go to the one in Chastain. There are a few locations. Great amount of food for the price.

3. Tin Lizzy’s - Not sure where you would classify them. Could be considered Chastain, could be Lenox. This is where you find the local celebs. Last time I went I saw some kid from the Real World. Anyway, awesome place to watch the game if you are tired of traditional sports bars. Great food and they typically have some local live music.

2. Ceviche - Roswell. Authentic Mexican food located in a whole in the wall in downtown Roswell’s Square. Eat, drink, then walk the square and check out the local art gallery or buy some ridiculously over-priced clothing.

1. Pure - Alpharetta. My absolute fav Mexican. Holy shit the food is so fucking good. Also, the restaurant used to be an auto garage, so they have a garage door that they open up to seat more people. Be warned, they will probably be packed. Buy Mojitos from the bar while you wait to be seated. Once seated, switch to pitchers of Texas Margaritas. For tequila shots, only go top self - Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Tequila. It’s so good you don’t have to shoot it, literally just sip it like a whiskey. The shot glasses are so big that you don’t need to order an actual glass to do this.

And there you have it.

Words over-used in this post: “Great food”, “ridiculously”

fish tacos!

fish tacos!

Wow, the weather could not be nicer.

Wow, the weather could not be nicer.

Woohoo, the high is 90 here in Atlanta today.
